Want want want, but not much cash!

I really want a pair of brogues, but I'm very specific about my shoes and I cant find the right style anywhere. I like a low lying, slim shape, very similar to the ones girls wear. Apparently that's not masculine enough for the people designing blokes shoes as they are all large and clumpy.

These treds are great, and are the exact shape I'm looking for. They'd look great going to the office and on smart casual nights out. With either skinny jeans or chinos, and a round necked knitted jumper buttoned up shirt combo.

Taking the plunge and upgrading from my 3g to the 4s. The new Siri software sounds jokes. Basically artificial intelligence, has an attitude as well, love it!

Jokes

"I went to see Chubby Brown last week. He said some outrageous things, so I started heckling and shouting abuse. Then I was told by security that sort of behaviour wasn't tolerated at Prime Minister's Questions…"

One entrepreneur says to another: "I've just been in the Far East prospecting for gold." "Japan?" asks the second entrepreneur. "Gosh, no," he replies. "I used much more scientific methods."

Our ice cream man was found lying on the floor of his van covered with hundreds and thousands. Police say that he topped himself.

England on course for Grand Slam!

England 17 v 9 France

Comprehensively. That's how England beat France at Twickenham yesterday. The forwards were strong and dynamic, and the backs ran excellent lines that the French just couldnt deal with. Toby Flood and Ben Youngs put in another great display, which further cements the belief that they are the best half back pairing in the Northern Hemisphere if not the world!

The first half flew by without instance, the packs keeping everything tight and England tryied to stretch the game to utilize there again excellent back three. Flood and Yachvilli traded penalties to end the half at 9-9.

Coming out for the second half England started brightly with Ben Foden converting a sweeping move for his first try of the Six Nations campaign. A second try followed shortly. A great break by Flood and Youngs was converted by a swallow diving Chris Ashton, only to be  correctly ruled out for a forward pass.

France were not without their chances, and could of scored  but Rougerie failed to collect a grubber kick neatly placed behind England's defensive line. Flood came off after 50 minutes to be replaced by the iconic Wilkinson. Wilkinson proceeded to convert a 50 meter penalty, with ease, to become the all time leading test match point scorer. A record regained from the New Zealand fly half, Dan Carter.

England could of scored again. Ashton made a  great break and was one on one with Poitrenaud before trying to whip a ball out wide to Cueto, unfortunately for England the pass was intercepted, if the ball had gone short right, a try would of been inevitable.

The game ended with England again pressuring the French 22, and joyous Tom Palmer emerging from the bottom of a ruck with the ball on the final whistle. The win keeps England on course for their first Grand Slam win in 7 years!

Outrageous Claim!

Yaya Toure says Manchester City are on their way to eclipsing Barcelona

Manchester City’s progress this season has been so impressive and their promotion into football’s elite so rapid that Yaya Toure believes they could even eclipse his former club, Barcelona, in “a couple of years”

Behave Mate!

Motorolla Xoom

The new Motorola Xoom, to be the iPad's closest rival, will be sold in the UK at The Carphone Warehouse, Currys and PC World. Currys and PC World will be selling the WiFi-only version of the Xoom, and The Carphone Warehouse will be the place to go if you’re looking for the 3G and WiFi model.

The UK release date is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to be in April or May. Prices in the US are very high in comparison to the iPad, about $799, hopefully they come down in the UK by the time it's on sale because this could be a real contender!

    Dublin

Friday 5th February 2011, 2.30 AM: Dan Summons walks into my room and a crazy 48 ensues. From Dan's house in Tonbridge Wells we drive to a place called Sevenoaks to find his friends; Matt and Joe waiting on the side of the road for us. The previous night we had already met Laps and Luke when we picked them up from their Uni house in Southampton.

From Sevenoaks we drove to Stanstead airport. Having already checked in online the previous night, we went through security, I got stopped for having deodorant in my bag, and headed straight for the Wetherspoons. 5AM and I'm on my first pint of Guinness with all the lads, boarding the plane at 6.15 I'm already 2 pints down and loving life!

The flight took roughly 50 minutes and was pretty turbulent. Arriving in Dublin the weather was dull and dreary. Plain sailing through security and customs and out the front of the airport to board a bus into the centre of the city. On they way in we drove past Croke park, enormous, all 82,300 of it! From then it was a matter of time before jumping off in the city centre.

About 45 minutes, a sore shoulder from my bag and numerous directions later we arrived at the Avalon House hostel. Deecent little place, a lot better than we thought. 18 Euros for the night wasn't bad, and the room was class, on two tiers, with four beds upstairs and 6 down. By the time we'd gotten to the room it was about 10 o'clock. Obvs being up for about 8 hours by then and only a few hours kip the previous night we got 40 winks.

1 o'clock we wake up and head straight for the Guinness factory, obligatory stop for Sub Way en route of course. I'd been looking forward to the Guinness factory since I knew we were going to Dublin, so was tres excited! Didn't get to look around the factory as much as I would of liked, especially the advertising bit, but was still deecent. As you make your way up the giant tower that is the museum you get to the gravity bar at the top, for your complimentary pint of Guinness. Buzzzzzz this is where it starts. Blagged a free pint for Summons' birthday, and everyone there sings Happy Birthday to him and 70 year old Joan from New York.

Leaving the factory Mulli and Ru need to go into the city to buy stuff for the night out. We leave them in the centre and tell them to ring us when they're finished. Obvs we want to find a pub. Come across The Oval Bar. Now my favorite place on earth and made the whole trip.
    http://www.theovalbar.com/

This place was sooo deece. Old Victorian building, gorgeous inside, all decked in Irish flags for the 6 nations. We were on the 3rd floor and when we got their found that we got table service and didn't need to go to the bar for drinks, result. The lady that served us was cracking, gave us free food and all sorts. So when we left  later on in the evening we left her a generous tip. We started off their intending on only staying for 1 pint, but that soon turned to 8 and we watched the rugby, which was great, even if i don't remember much of the game now.

When we left The Oval, 330Euros down, we headed back to the hostel and showered and changed before heading to a pub/bar/nightclub. Couldn't tell you the name of the place. After 1130 it was buy one get one free on drinks, result. The club quickly filled up past midnight and I soon found I couldn't drink anymore. Joe reckons at last count we were on 16 pints each. Not bad effort, shame we couldn't get to 20 though! About 2 o'clock me and Ru lost everyone so headed back to the Hotel.

Couple of hours sleep later and its on our way back home. Landed in Stanstead late afternoon and drove home dropping Forms and Joe on the way in Sevenoaks. Back in Bournemouth for 9 o'clock. Nackered!
Can't wait to go back though, such a good day!!

    Lost the plot

    • Chelsea buy Liverpool's spanish star man Torres for £50m
    • Chelsea bolster defence with Luiz signing from Benfica.
    • Liverpool replace Torres with Newcastle front man Andy Carrol and Luis Suarez.
    • Liverpool break British transfer record and splash £35 million for Andy Carrol.
Footballs gone mad - Rio Ferdinand tweeted yesterday. Have to agree with him on that. Liverpool have had an absolute shocker! Im actually angry about this. £35m is just unbelievable. 1 international cap, and 14 goals in his whole career. What was Kenny thinking? Theres no doubting the boys a good player, and at 22 has a long way to go in his career, but £35 mil? Behave! £15-17 would have been good business for either side. Newcastle have to be laughing! Not sure were there goals are going to come from for the rest of the season. Looking forward to their summer wish list though.

£50m for Torres is a lot of money, definitely over priced. Excellent bit of business from Liverpool: out of form, unfit and suffering a world cup hangover. There is however no doubting his class, how will he fit in at Chelsea? No idea, don't think he can play as part of a front 3, would like to see him up front with Drogba, thats a scary thought! But don't know why Chelsea would change a proven formation?

Saw Suarez at the world cup. I think he's a decent player. Think this is a good signing from Liverpool, id like to see a front three of Babel, Carrol and Suarez, with Cole, Gerrard and Mirelies behind them, thats deece! Shame Charlie Adam didnt get his move to Anfield, ill take him at United him, Gibson and Anderson in the middle, classy!

    Bank§y

    http://www.banksyfilm.com/index.html

Banksy has directed a documentary about American street art. It's described as an enthralling modern-day fairytale... with bolt cutters (Got a lot of time for that description), and has a nomination for best documentary at the 2011 Oscars.  Bare time for Banksy's work and buzzing to watching it, below is a link to a website hosting online versions.

One of my favourite Banksy's, very relevant to me.

Proving art can have a sense of humour, love this photo. Its a story every lad dreams of telling.

    Ironic bant! Love it!

Colbs t-shirt, sparked my original interest in Banksy. Believe he bought it from a flea market in London, i proceeded to nick it from him coz i liked it, obvs!

Gray and Keys - Sexism in football

The Andy Gray and Richard Keys 'scandal' that seems to have 'rocked' football and society in opening our eyes to sexism in the game is an absolute joke! It was clearly just lads locker room banter, as i have seen it described in some press, and doesn't warrant the attention or scrutiny it has received.

Firstly you have to question how these off air comments have made their way into the public domain. They were made off camera, so only someone working at Sky would have been privy to what was being said. Leaking 'sensitive?' information like that about your colleagues is a pretty cuntish thing to do, and if i was in charge at Sky i wouldn't tolerate a grass like that in my team!

Secondly they hadn't made the comments on air, as obviously this would be perceived as inappropriate (which i completely understand). They were made off air and as such it's not a reflection of Skys beliefs about women's involvement in football. Its a personal opinion (rightly or wrongly). Loosing a job over a personal opinion (voiced in private, to work colleagues) especially an opinion as trivial as wether a women would make a right decision in a football match is pathetic.

If the comments made about Sian Massey on the Saturday were the only comments made, and the appropriate apologies were made then i'm pretty sure they would still have their jobs. However, with the leak of the Massey comments came further nails in their coffins with back dated footage of Keys and Gray being apparently sexist again. One example of this is the clip were Andy Gray asks Charlotte Jackson to tuck a mic down his trousers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuPMFvuYcvk
This is clearly a joke and Charlotte Jackson doesnt seem to bothered by it. She can't have been to bothered by the connotations of sexism or being seen as a sex object when posing for this article:
http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Hot_Babe_at_Sportcouk/49612/All-Action_Jackson.aspx. If she didn't want to be seen as sex object or treated like one, why pose like this in a magazine designed to be oggled at and read by men!? As such, she can't of been offended by the comments and so unless she reported the behavior as offensive, no one else has the right to moan about it!

My final argument couldn't be summed up better than by an article i found in the daily mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1350829/Sky-sexism-row-Why-right-women-sexist-MEN.html
and an article from the telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/8290591/Andy-Gray-and-Richard-Keys-the-changing-face-of-office-banter.html. This boy talks sense, and the women writing is refreshingly un biased. I hate inconsistency in society and i think this sums it up! Im not condoning sexism, as it is completely wrong, however what they said or did can't be considered sexist or in any way worse than media exposed females have said. So infuriating!

I don't think just because you are famous or in positions of authority you have to be a role model and act like the perfect person. Thats to much to ask from someone. They haven't acted different to millions of other men around the country, this doesn't mean that what they said was right or i'm condoning it, but it has been blown massively out of proportion and they didn't need to loose their jobs!
